CAIRO- Egypt on Sunday welcomed the signing of the Doha Framework for the Peace Agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the M23 movement, describing it as an important step toward stabilizing security in eastern Congo, achieving national reconciliation and safeguarding the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry praised the constructive diplomatic role played by regional and international partners in facilitating the signing process, highlighting the momentum generated by both the peace agreement signed between Rwanda and the DRC in Washington in June 2025 and the Doha Declaration of Principles signed in July 2025, which paved the way for the latest agreement.
Egypt also expressed its appreciation for the role played by regional and international partners, especially the US, in achieving this significant progress.
Cairo reiterated its support for efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the DRC and the wider Great Lakes region, and its readiness to work with all partners to help ensure the success of the agreement and achieve lasting peace.
