Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, met on Wednesday with Ambassador of Vietnam to Egypt Nguyen Nam Duong.
The two sides probed means to promote economic co-operation and deepen the development partnership between Egypt and Vietnam.
During the meeting, Rostom stressed Cairo’s aspiration for a genuine development partnership with Hanoi based on knowledge-sharing, mutual experience, and broader co-operation across economic and development fields.
The minister reviewed Egypt’s development experience, highlighting the presidential Decent Life Initiative (Haya Karima) as one of the country’s largest and most significant development programmes currently under implementation.
He noted that the initiative is aimed to deliver essential infrastructure and basic services to villages and underserved communities nationwide, contributing to a comprehensive and sustainable development
The minister said the experience could offer a valuable area for knowledge exchange with Vietnam, particularly in poverty reduction programmes and inclusive development policies.
For his part, the Vietnamese ambassador highlighted co-operation between Egypt and Vietnam within the Group of Twenty (G20) framework. He said that last year witnessed the elevation of bilateral ties to the level of a comprehensive partnership.
Nam Duong noted that 2026 represents a new chapter in elevating relations between Egypt and Vietnam across various fields.
