CAIRO – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi discussed ways to strengthen energy cooperation with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright during talks in Washington.
The meeting, attended by Egyptian ambassador in Washington Motaz Zahran and officials from both sides, underscored the depth of Egyptian-US relations and the importance of expanding cooperation to attract US investment and enhance energy security.
The two sides reviewed ongoing cooperation in the energy sector, including projects with Apache, Chevron and ExxonMobil, as well as collaboration in liquefied natural gas.
They also discussed progress on linking Cypriot gas fields to Egypt’s infrastructure for transportation and re-export, including developments related to the Aphrodite field with Chevron.
The talks also covered opportunities to cement cooperation in refining, petrochemicals and value-added industries, sustainable aviation fuel projects with Honeywell, renewable energy, carbon reduction, and cooperation in mining and critical minerals.
