Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa participated in a joint Egyptian-American working session hosted by Egypt’s Ambassador to the United States, Motaz Zahran, in Washington, on the sidelines of the 2026 Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
The discussions focused on boosting co-operation with both institutions, given their key role in supporting investment, facilitating access to finance, and encouraging private sector participation in development projects.
The Egyptian side reviewed measures taken to mitigate the impact of ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, as well as reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, easing the business environment, and boosting the role of the private sector.
Participants also highlighted the importance of attracting more high-quality U.S. investments in line with Egypt’s development priorities, supporting sustainable growth and job creation.
the two sides stressed the need for continued coordination to explore new areas of co-operation and support priority projects, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding economic partnership.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh, Deputy Foreign Minister for International Co-operation Samar El-Ahdal, along with officials from the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM) and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
