The strategic partnership with the United States featured highly in talks in Cairo yesterday between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and visiting Chairman of the Committee on Intelligence in the US Congress, Mike Turner.
Mr Turner arrived in the Egyptian capital, accompanying a delegation from the US Congress, which included representatives of the Democratic and Republication parties.
During the meeting, the president and Mr Turner confirmed the strength and durability of the partnership between Egypt and the US, Egyptian Presidency Spokesman, Councillor Ahmed Fahmy said.
The American delegation, he added, highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role, describing the Arab country as a ‘pillar’ of stability and peace in the Middle East region.
The US Congress delegation also underscored Egypt’s leading role in the fight against terrorism.
This role, the members of the delegation said, makes cooperation and consultations between Cairo and Washington acquire even greater importance.
