Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, reiterated on Monday Egypt’s firm stance on de-escalation and the prioritisation of political and diplomatic solutions.
He also emphasised the critical need to prevent the conflict from spreading and to avert a cycle of violence that could become difficult to control.
Abdel-Aati’s made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Slovak counterpart, Juraj Planar, which focused on alarming escalation of military tensions in the region.
During the discussion, Abdel-Aati highlighted that military options would only exacerbate violence and bloodshed, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf in a press release.
The Egyptian chief diplomat stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty, adhering to the principles of good neighbourliness, and exercising restraint during this sensitive period, the spokesman added.
Abdel-Aati also called for intensified regional and international cooperation to contain the crisis and prevent further escalation.
For his part, Minister Planar expressed Slovakia’s appreciation for Egypt’s ongoing efforts to promote security and stability in the region.
He lauded Egypt’s support in assisting Slovakia with the evacuation of its citizens affected by the situation.
Both ministers affirmed their commitment to continued coordination and consultation, reflecting the strength of Egyptian-Slovak relations and their shared dedication to fostering regional stability.
