Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity announced on Saturday its participation in implementing the country’s national plan for managing stray animals, while reaffirming its commitment to countering what it described as misinformation surrounding the issue as part of a unified strategy aimed at safeguarding public health and the environment.
The ministry stated that the Egyptian Federation for Animal Welfare (EFAW) collaborates closely with the state to implement plans related to the veterinary sector and animal welfare, particularly regarding stray animals.
According to the ministry, the EFAW comprises a number of Egyptian civil society organizations dedicated to animal welfare and serves as a partner to the government in protecting animals.
It noted that vaccination and immunization campaigns for stray animals are carried out through the EFAW and its member associations.
The ministry also stressed that EFAW, like all non-governmental organizations and civil society institutions, is subject to regulatory oversight, with all financial transactions monitored and reviewed by the relevant authorities.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity urged institutions and civil society organizations working in the field of animal welfare to comply with the regulations and directives issued by the veterinary authorities.
It also affirmed that it will take action against any violations or practices intended to mislead public opinion or create disorder.
