Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad met on Tuesday with British Ambassador to Cairo Mark Bryson-Richardson and discussed ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in key labour-related areas.
These areas included vocational training, youth employment, women’s participation in the workforce, and social protection programmes for workers.
During the meeting, Minister Raddad stressed deep historical ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom and underscored the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with international institutions and partners to leverage best practices and expertise in developing vocational training systems and preparing youth for the labour market.
The minister outlined the ministry’s efforts in implementing the “Training for Employment” strategy, which aims to equip young Egyptians with skills in demand both domestically and abroad.
These efforts include modernising vocational training centres, launching new programmes in partnership with the private sector and development partners, as well as creating decent employment opportunities for youth.
The discussions also highlighted initiatives to economically empower women, increase their participation in the workforce, and implement social protection programmes for workers, particularly those in the informal sector, ensuring safe and dignified working conditions while promoting professional and social stability.
Minister Raddad affirmed that, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Egypt places significant emphasis on youth skill development in alignment with local and global labour market needs.
Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening co-operation in the coming period and leveraging the experience of British institutions and training programmes to develop youth skills, support employment efforts, and advance shared objectives in labour and economic development.
