STOCKHOLM – Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hany Sewilam discussed on Monday with an advisor to the UN General Assembly President the outcome of the UN water conference held in March 2023 in New York.
During the meeting which was held on the sidelines of the Word Water Week here, the minister said that Egypt and Japan will organise a high-level session on the sidelines of the Sixth Cairo Water Week to discuss the outcome of the water and climate dialogue.
Sewilam added he discussed with the UN official the preparations for the coming summit of the UN General Assembly for sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting also dealt with the preparations for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) due to be held in the United Arab Emirates later this year and coordination between Egypt and UAE on the water file.
The Egyptian minister arrived in the Swedish capital on Sunday to take part in the World Water Week, which addresses the most important issues of water.
Sewilam is due to meet with several irrigation ministers and senior officials from various regional and international organisations concerned with water.
