Means likely to help boost the economic and investment co-operation between Egypt and the UK, featured high on the agenda of talks held in Cairo yesterday, between Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom met British Ambassador Mark Bryson.
During the meeting, Rostom highlighted the deep strategic partnership between the two countries, built on years of co-operation.
Egypt and the UK have signed several agreements and memorandums of understanding to expand economic and investment ties, Rostom said.
The talks touched on boosting trade and investment, supporting Egyptian exports, and exploring opportunities in infrastructure and clean energy. They also discussed Egypt’s role as a regional hub for production and exports to Africa and the Middle East, as well as co-operation in economic statistics and national accounts to improve decision-making.
Rostom said the government is focused on economic stability and financial discipline, especially in light of global tensions. He stressed the importance of infrastructure projects as a driver of growth and job creation, with greater private sector participation to improve efficiency.
For his part, Ambassador Bryson stressed the UK’s commitment to expanding economic co-operation with Egypt. He pointed to joint projects worth about £8 billion in investment, trade, and clean energy, and emphasized plans to expand the activities of British companies in the Egyptian market.
