Egyptian Minister of Environment Yassmin Fouad witnessed on Tuesday the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and the International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC) in UAE to preserve and protect the threatened Houbara Bustard bird species in Egypt.
Head of EEAA Ali Abu Sena and Board Member of IFHC Majed El Mansouri signed the protocol at the Environmental Culture Centre in Cairo’s old district of Al Fustat.
During the ceremony, Fouad asserted that the cooperation protocol aims at implementing a set of researches and joint activities to help in the preservation of the Houbara Bustards species in Egypt along with exchanging expertise in sustainable wildlife management.
The agreement will be effective for 10 years that could be renewed for one more year, she said, adding that a joint technical working group will be formed to follow up and oversee the conservation project.
