Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri underscored on Sunday distinguished and deep relations with the United Arab Emirates during a meeting with the Gulf country’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 12th Sir Bani Yas Forum, which is organised annually by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.
Minister Shoukri expressed hopes that Cairo and Abu Dhabi would be able to maintain co-operation and coordination in the coming period.
The two Arab capitals, he said, could enhance their economic and trade relations even more in the future.
He added that Egypt works to attract more Emirati investments, especially in the light of the distinguished indicators of the Egyptian economy and the incentives Egypt offers investors.
”Egypt has a favourable investment environment, not to mention the huge national projects it is implementing in all fields,” the Egyptian minister said.
During their meeting, the two ministers discussed developments on the Arab scene, especially in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Sudan, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
He added that the two ministers also discussed means of strengthening Arab security in the face of growing challenges on the regional and international scenes.
Counsellor Hafez noted that Minister Shoukri also reaffirmed Egypt’s firm support to security and stability in the Arab Gulf region.
The security of the region is inseparable from Egypt’s security, Counsellor Hafez quoted Minister Shoukri as saying during the meeting.
Minister Al Nahayan, for his part, expressed pride in ‘deep’ and ‘strategic’ relations between Cairo and Abu Dhabi.
The UAE, he said, supports the social and economic development boom that Egypt is witnessing.
”We also support everything that preserves the national security of our two countries,” he added.
