Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described Egypt and Türkiye as the cradle of civilisations.
He noted that he is working with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to continue furthering bilateral ties.
He added that Türkiye maintained dialogue and co-operation at the highest level with President Sisi in addition to maintaining non-stop consultations on regional issues.
Turkish President Erdogan said Egypt and Türkiye have joint history and deeply-rooted amicable ties, noting that the coming year will mark the centennial anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Erdogan noted that it was agreed during his meeting with President Sisi in Cairo in February to restructure the High-Level Strategic Co-operation Council, adding that the council’s first meeting was held yesterday.
He said that a joint declaration underlined keenness on enhancing co-operation in various domains, including trade, industry, defence, health, environment and energy.
He added that Türkiye is interested in boosting the volume of trade in Egypt to hit $15 billion within the coming five years.
Erdogan said Turkish businessmen largely contribute to the Egyptian economy with about $3 billion worth investments.
He highlighted encouraging Turkish entrepreneurs to boost investments and welcoming Egyptian investors in Türkiye.
On the Middle East conflict, the Turkish president said Israel adds to its crimes a crime of banning access of humanitarian aid to those who deserve it.
He added that the Israeli administration failed to ditch the resistance by triggering thousands of bombs and it is attempting to annihilate the Palestinians by starving them.
He said Israel and its supporters are responsible for the death of every innocent person suffering from hunger as well as water and medicine shortage.
He referred to Egypt’s mediation in negotiations with Qatar and the US, stressing Türkiye ‘s support for this process through its Foreign Ministry and intelligence agency.
He asserted that Türkiye is doing its best to stop bloodshed, referring to the unchanged obstructing stand adopted by Israel.
Erdogan said intensive efforts are exerted to ensure holding accountable the Israeli officials who committed crimes in Gaza at international courts.
