ANKARA/CAIRO – Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on Thursday discussed with his Turkish counterpart Mehmet Fatih Kacır prospects of boosting and achieving a leap in the joint industrial cooperation.
This came on the sidelines the Egyptian minister’s current visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara, on the top of a high-level delegation.
Minister Samir asserted the significance of promoting joint action towards activating mechanisms of cooperation and fostering communication between Egyptian and Turkish bodies concerned with industry.
He pointed out to a proposal by both sides on signing a MoU on the industrial cooperation, alongside sharing technical know-how, academic education and investment in agricultural manufacturing.
The talks tackled technological and vocational cooperation opportunities through innovation centers, as well the possibility of establishing a Turkish industrial zone in Egypt, according to minister Samir.
The meeting took up exchanging technological expertise in the industries that Egypt seeks to localize, like the automotive industry, the minister added.
The two sides probed introducing a joint strategy till June 2024 to shed light on opportunities, sectors and domains of top priority for cooperation, particularly in the domains of furniture, textile and chemical industries.
Minister Samir, meanwhile, has invited his Turkish counterpart to pay a visit to Cairo during the upcoming period to follow up on the outcomes of this current visit and review files and projects of future cooperation
