Egypt’s Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad signed with her Tunisian counterpart Leila Chikhaoui an executive program to boost co-operation between the two parties in the fields of environmental protection and facing climate change and biological degradation.
This came in implementation of the memorandum of understanding that was signed by the two countries in 1999 and in line with the first executive programme signed on September 8 in 2015.
Fouad said the executive programme aims at backing environmental programmes and activities and exchange expertise between the two countries in the areas of environmental assessment of projects and studying negative impacts on industrial projects.
It also focused on integrated coastal management and marine conservation, plans and management of crises and disasters resulting from oil pollution, in addition to the solid and hazardous waste management.
The program also addressed integrated natural resource management, air quality monitoring and integrated water resources management.
The two sides agreed on forming a committee to follow up on the implementation of the executive programme and overcoming obstacles facing it.
