ALAMEIN, Egypt – Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has stated that the state will swiftly move to implement new social protection programmes upon directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to ease burdens of citizens as soon as possible.

At a press conference held at the cabinet premises in the New Alamein City, Madbouli said the implementation of such programmes need logistical measures and arrangements, noting that the government aims at starting the implementation within a maximum timeframe of one month.

He said MizaCards will be issued for citizens, who do not have subsidy cards, as soon as possible in addition to adding new beneficiaries to Takaful and Karama programme.

The premier said each MizaCard will secure an aid of EGP 100 for every beneficiary for a period of six months, adding that the cards will be available at the post offices.

He made it clear that a million beneficiary will be added permanently to Takaful and Karama program and not as an exception. The cards will enable them to purchase food commodities of various types.

The premier also noted that the new aid package will not affect the availability of commodities and their proper amounts, adding that the strategic reserve of commodities is safe and the new social protection measures will cost from 11 to 12 billion pounds.
