Egypt’s Environment Minister Yassmin Fouad asserted that Egypt will host 24th Meeting (COP 24) of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal region of the Mediterranean due in 2025, adding that the decision was welcomed by the member states of the convention.
COP 23 (Barcelona Convention), held in Slovenia, was concluded and resulted in 20 decisions on all the fields of environmental work in the Mediterranean region, including decisions on biological diversity and achieving integrated coastal management, Executive Chief of Environmental Affairs Agency Ali Abu Senna said.
As part of the bilateral meetings that were held during COP 23, Abu Senna met with Deputy Executive Director of the UN Environment Program Elizabeth Maruma Mrema where they discussed the most important joint programs between the Ministry of Environment and the UN Environment Program.
Mrema asserted the UN program focuses on limiting the consumption of plastic.
