CAIRO – The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development reviewed the goals, strategic pillars, axes of work and objectives of the 2021/2022 plan for the supply and internal trade sector.
In a statement, Minister Hala el-Saeed said the 2021/2022 plan seeks to achieve two complementary targets; a social goal to raise the standard of living of the Egyptian citizens by offering means of health care and comprehensive social protection, as well as providing public services to all citizens without discrimination, along with the second goal that aims at revitalizing the Egyptian economy and resuming production at the maximum possible capacity.
The main objectives are to ensure food security, create a strategic stock of basic commodities, and regularly provide commodities in markets through supply chains, in addition to developing internal trade and revitalizing its markets to increase its contribution to economic growth and job creation, she added.
“We also aim at promoting the supervisory bodies’ role in the markets to prevent monopolistic practices and protect consumers, while limiting the loss and waste of food commodities in the stages of production, transportation, storage or distribution,” the minister said according to MENA.
The plan focuses on providing food security requirements, expanding commercial and logistical areas and supply chains, raising the efficiency of the internal trade sector, subsidizing basic commodities, controlling markets, and protecting consumers, she added.
