Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Menshawy held a meeting today to review the investment plan for fiscal year 2026/2027 and the medium-term investment plan for 2026–2030, as part of coordination between the two ministries to enhance the efficiency of public investments and support the goals of Egypt Vision 2030.
Rostom said the housing and urban development sector is a key driver of economic growth in Egypt due to its role in developing infrastructure, improving services, creating job opportunities, and enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
He added that the state has made significant progress in recent years in providing adequate housing and expanding basic infrastructure. He noted that the upcoming phase will focus on maximising the economic and social returns of public investments through improved project management and adherence to implementation timelines.
Rostom also highlighted the Ministry of Housing’s strong performance in implementing projects under the state’s investment plan, reflecting its capacity to manage major national projects that support urban development and stimulate economic activity across governorates.
For her part, Minister El-Menshawy said her ministry has prepared a medium-term investment plan for 2026–2030 that includes programmes aimed at meeting citizens’ essential needs, particularly expanding housing units and improving drinking water and sanitation services.
She added that the ministry continues to implement urban development projects in new cities to attract investment and create jobs, while completing infrastructure to transform these cities into development and economic hubs.
The meeting also reviewed priority projects, including those under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, as well as social and middle-income housing programmes.
