Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid received on Wednesday Dennis Londo, Tanzanian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.
Tanzania’s Ambassador to Egypt Richard Mutayoba Makanzo attended the meeting.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic, trade and investment relations.
They reviewed mechanisms to increase trade and enhance the access of Egyptian products to the Tanzanian and East African markets.
The discussions also covered the updating of commodity lists and Harmonised System (HS) codes to include new products and facilitate trade flows in response to proposals from the domestic and global business community.
Farid stressed that Tanzania represents a strategic partner for Egypt in East Africa, noting that efforts are underway to update commodity lists and diversify goods to expand trade and unlock new areas of co-operation.
The minister stressed the importance of expanding co-operation in the livestock sector and enhancing investment partnerships across production, processing and distribution stages.
He highlighted the importance of establishing logistics centres in Dar es Salaam to support the distribution of Egyptian products across Tanzania and neighbouring markets, improve supply chain efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
For his part, the Tanzanian deputy minister of industry and trade affirmed Tanzania’s commitment to expanding economic and investment co-operation and increasing the participation of Egyptian companies. He also expressed readiness to provide the necessary facilitation to support joint projects across various sectors.
