Egypt, Sweden discuss cooperation in environmental issues

NAIROBI  – Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad conferred on Thursday with her Swedish counterpart Romina Pourmokhtari on means to boost co-operation relations between Egypt and Sweden and the outcome of COP28.

The meeting also tackled the developments of formulating the 1st pact to contain pollution resulting from plastic products and reaching a binding legal instrument to limit plastic pollution.

This came on the sidelines of the 6th round of the UN Environment Program (UNEP) held in Nairobi.

Fouad said that the meeting tackled the results of COP28 and the importance of directing funds available to the Green Climate Fund and Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The meeting tackled the importance of green investments and their incentives to meet the needs of the private sector and urge it to get involved with the governments in green transition in all the domains, she said.
