Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the importance of maintaining efforts to unify Arab ranks and solidarity to face the challenges facing the region.
He emphasised that Egypt will not allow the security and stability of its brothers in the Gulf countries to be compromised, and that Gulf security is an integral part of Egypt’s security.
The president’s remarks came during his meeting with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh on Tuesday, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
President Sisi asserted during the meeting the fraternal relations binding the Egyptian and Saudi peoples. He also expressed Egypt’s aspiration to strengthen bilateral co-operation with Saudi Arabia in all fields.
For his part, the Saudi king asserted the distinguished and special relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, praising in this context Egypt’s pivotal role in the Arab region and its unremitting efforts to support Arab and Gulf countries in particular, as an essential pillar for maintaining security and stability in the Arab world.
The Saudi monarch also expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support for Saudi Arabia on various issues and for the contributions of the Egyptian community in many sectors and their role in achieving development in Saudi Arabia.
He also stressed Saudi Arabia’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Egypt at all levels, in a manner that achieves the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples.
The two leaders stressed the importance of supporting and strengthening co-operation for the benefit of the two countries and peoples, especially at the military and security levels, in addition to co-operation in the economic, investment and development fields, with the aim of making optimal use of all available opportunities to enhance integration between both countries.
They also discussed latest developments of a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The two sides agreed on the necessity of boosting joint efforts to combat terrorism and the importance of concerted efforts by the international community to reach political settlements to the crises in some countries of the region, in a manner that preserves the territorial integrity of those countries and the capabilities of their people.
Also on Tuesday, President Sisi met Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Spokesman Radi said.
During the meeting, President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s interest in enhancing the continued communication between the two brotherly countries through mutual visits, which constitute an impetus for increasing co-operation and coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
For his part, the Saudi crown prince expressed Saudi Arabia’s appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people, and praised the close historical relations between both countries.
He also lauded Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting the security and stability of Arab countries and its appreciated efforts to promote joint Arab action at all levels. He expressed Saudi Arabia’s aspiration to continue to advance the unique bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, especially at the economic, investment and development domains.
The talks touched on ways to enhance bilateral relations and sustain the partnership between the two countries, especially at the economic and investment levels.
President Sisi and Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman stressed the importance of strengthening joint Arab action to face the various challenges in the region and the need to intensify consultation and coordination of positions between the two countries on an ongoing basis, especially in light of the serious crises in some sister countries.
The importance of ensuring the security of the Red Sea was also stressed, as it is a fundamental pillar in the regional and international trade movement, which requires concerted efforts by riparian countries to ensure freedom and security of navigation.
Meanwhile, President Sisi and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman toured the International Defense Exhibition. The exhibit represents a global platform in the defense manufacturing sector. It showcases the latest technological developments in this field from all over the world.
The President visited the Egyptian pavilion, which includes various military products of the Ministry of Military Production and the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation. The Egyptian participation in the exhibition comes as part of the special relations between the two countries and Egypt’s keenness to learn about the latest technologies in the field of defense industries.
