CAIRO – Deputy Premier for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir held a meeting with Spanish Ambassador here Alvaro Iranzo for talks on boosting industrial investments between the two countries.
Wazir updated the diplomat on the ministry’s plan to organize an exhibition to shed light on manufacturers’ needs of production supplies and spare parts for railway units.
He underlined the importance of encouraging Spanish companies to pump investments into the Egyptian market in the top priority domains, including manufacture of equipment and production components of new and renewable energy projects like solar panels, and wind turbines in addition to water desalination and wastewater treatment equipment.
Wazir said the Spanish companies can set up projects in such fields and benefit from privileges offered by the Egyptian side to help boost the national economy and meet needs of the local market and exports.
He reiterated his ministry’s readiness to remove any hurdles facing Spanish companies operating in Egypt.
The Spanish diplomat reiterated keenness on boosting cooperation between the two countries’ industry and transport ministries within the coming period.
He said the industries deemed as top priority for the Egyptian market run in line with priorities of Spain at the present stage, which is clearly manifested in the big number of Spanish companies operating in energy generation and seawater desalination fields.
Talks between the two sides tackled the progress rate of a number of current joint projects and future ventures between the two countries, including cooperation with Spain’s CAF company to maintain 39 trains operating on Cairo Metro Line 2 and 23 ones on Line 1.
