The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and Somalia’s National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost co-operation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biological products, and medical devices.
The signing ceremony was attended by EDA chairman Dr Ali el-Ghamrawy and Somalian Minister of Health Ali Haji Adam.
The agreement comes within the framework of ongoing efforts to strengthen integration between regulatory authorities and the pharmaceutical industry, contributing to the advancement of healthcare and pharmaceutical systems in both countries.
The MoU aims to enhance technical and regulatory co-operation in the regulation and circulation of pharmaceuticals, biological products, and medical devices.
The agreement covers co-operation in pharmacovigilance, the registration of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, and the regulation of biological products. It also supports capacity-building initiatives and the development of technical personnel, thereby strengthening regulatory efficiency in both countries in line with the latest international standards.
Through this partnership, the EDA continues to consolidate its position as one of the leading reference regulatory authorities at both the regional and continental levels by expanding its international and African partnerships.
