Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Tuesday from Somali Foreign Minister Abdussalam Abdi Ali to review bilateral relations and developments in the Horn of Africa.
During the call, the minister praised the growing momentum in Egypt–Somalia ties and reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed Egypt’s rejection of any unilateral measures that undermine Somali sovereignty, and highlighted Cairo’s commitment to backing Somalia’s state‑building efforts, particularly in counter‑terrorism and capacity development.
He also underlined the importance of sustainable funding for the African Union mission in Somalia, noting Egypt’s participation and support for its continuation alongside the UN office.
For his part, Somali Foreign Minister Abdi Ali expressed appreciation for Egypt’s consistent support and reiterated his country’s keenness to maintain close coordination and consultation with Cairo, strengthening bilateral cooperation in ways that serve the interests of both peoples.
This exchange reflects Egypt’s role in supporting Somalia’s stability, regional security in the Horn of Africa, and deepening strategic partnerships.
