Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon to explore ways of strengthening bilateral relations and exchanging perspectives on regional and international issues of common interest.
Abdel-Aati congratulated his Slovenian counterpart on assuming office, expressing Egypt’s commitment to advancing cooperation in political, economic, trade, and investment fields. He welcomed the outcomes of the second session of the Egypt–Slovenia Joint Economic Committee held in Ljubljana in 2024, and looked forward to hosting the third session in Cairo later this year to further enhance economic collaboration.
The ministers discussed opportunities to expand Egyptian exports to EU markets through Slovenia, including the establishment of a maritime transport line to facilitate access to European markets. They also reviewed prospects for broader cooperation in port development, extending beyond the current partnership between Koper and Alexandria to include Ain Sokhna and Damietta.
On regional developments, Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the two-state solution and humanitarian efforts in Palestine. The Slovenian Foreign Minister praised the growing bilateral ties and emphasized Slovenia’s interest in strengthening cooperation in maritime transport, ports, and air connectivity.
The talks underscored both countries’ shared determination to elevate their partnership and deepen coordination on regional and global challenges.
