Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny recently met a high-level delegation from SITA, a global leader in information and communication technology for the air transport industry, to discuss the potential collaboration between the two sides to drive digital transformation across Egyptian airports.
The move aligns with the ministry’s strategic vision to modernise digital infrastructure and integrate advanced global technologies.
Key officials, including Amani Metwally and Ayman Fawzy Arab, took part in the meeting, where SITA presented its latest technological solutions. These included advancements in electronic reservation systems, self-service technologies to enhance passenger experiences, and artificial intelligence applications for operational efficiency.
Cybersecurity took center stage at the discussion, with an emphasis on deploying advanced measures to protect airline and passenger data.
Additionally, the discussions covered the development of sophisticated baggage tracking systems to minimize baggage loss.
El-Hefny, for his part, underscored the importance of this partnership, highlighting its alignment with Egypt’s broader digital transformation strategy for the aviation sector.
He stressed the need to enhance operational efficiency and elevate passenger service standards to international levels through the adoption of smart airport systems.
Selim Bouri, President of SITA’s Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye region, praised the progress of Egypt’s civil aviation sector, particularly its initiative to involve the private sector in airport operations.
He reaffirmed SITA’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Egypt’s aviation sector and contributing innovative solutions to support the country’s digital transformation efforts.
