The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) sent its 99th “Zad Al-Izza” convoy to Gaza on Monday carrying about 130,000 food parcels and winter aid, as humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip continue to worsen.
The convoy includes more than 22,000 items of clothing, 300 blankets, around 3,000 mattresses, and about 3,500 tents.
It also carries more than 700 tons of flour, over 1,800 tons of medical and relief supplies and more than 1,300 tons of petroleum products urgently needed in Gaza, according to an ERC statement.
The ERC has been present along the border since the start of the war, serving as Egypt’s national coordinator for assistance to Gaza.
Since the outbreak of Israel’s war in October 2023, Egypt has led one of the longest-running humanitarian efforts into the Gaza Strip, becoming the main route for aid amid ongoing Israeli blockade and bombardment.
Through the ERC, Egypt has coordinated aid deliveries through the Rafah and Karm Abu Salem crossings, in cooperation with the United Nations and international partners.
Official figures show that Egypt has provided about 70 percent of the total aid that has entered Gaza since the war began.
For more than 760 consecutive days, Egyptian aid convoys, relief flights, and sea shipments have continued to reach Gaza. In total, more than 665,000 tons of humanitarian assistance have been delivered, supported by 943 relief flights and 617 sea shipments, in coordination with 59 countries.
Inside Gaza, Egypt has facilitated the entry of 214 ambulances, supplied about 91,000 tons of fuel to keep hospitals and essential services running, and supported four field hospitals.
