The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) affirmed the country’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation with Canada and creating an attractive environment for foreign investments.

The authority gave the remarks during a meeting with delegation of Canadian businesspeople who are members of the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council, to discuss opportunities for joint investment and expand cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, GAFI presented Egypt’s investment climate, highlighting the competitive advantages of the Egyptian economy, the country’s strategic location, and priority sectors for investment. The investment map, which includes various opportunities across different fields, was also presented.

Additionally, the services offered by the Investment Services Center were showcased, which provides simplified procedures for establishing companies, obtaining licenses, and allocating land, in addition to offering investor services through a unified digital platform that helps expedite procedures and enhance the investor experience.

The meeting also covered the various investment systems in Egypt, including free zones, investment zones, technological zones, and special economic zones, along with the incentives and facilities available for foreign investors.

The Canadian delegation raised several questions regarding the regulatory frameworks for investment, including the Golden License system and company establishment procedures, which were addressed, and the available facilitation mechanisms were discussed.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion session between the business communities of both sides, followed by a field visit to the Investment Services Center. The authority reiterated its full commitment to supporting Canadian investors and strengthening bilateral investment relations between the two countries.
