Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad held an expanded meeting on Wednesday with Michael Gilbert, CEO of Forbes Global, and Maged Marai, CEO of Saudi-based Magnum Properties.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to support the Forbes International Tower project in the Central Business District of the New Capital.
Minister Awad stressed the importance of promoting major investment projects, enhancing sustainable urban development and encouraging the private sector to adopt advanced environmental technologies and green solutions.
Awad affirmed that the Egyptian government places great importance on strengthening partnerships with the private sector and supporting major investment projects that integrate environmental considerations and adopt advanced green systems and technologies.
Such projects contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, reducing emissions and advancing the transition towards a low-carbon economy, she said.
The discussions also addressed opportunities for co-operation between the ministry and Magnum Properties on the environmental standards and requirements applicable to the Forbes International Tower.
Awad underscored the importance of continued technical co-ordination to ensure that the project meets the highest environmental standards and promotes efficient use of energy and other resources throughout its development and operation.
Company representatives presented the integrated vision for the Forbes International Tower, describing it as a landmark investment project in the New Capital’s Central Business District, aiming to set an advanced benchmark for the buildings of the future.
The project will combine innovative architecture with sustainable solutions, smart infrastructure and clean energy, while providing a sophisticated environment for office and commercial activities, they said.
CEO of Forbes Global Michael Gilbert said the project’s environmental strategy aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 through a comprehensive package of decarbonisation and emissions-reduction measures.
It also seeks to secure the highest green-building ratings, including LEED Platinum certification, reflecting its ambition to establish the tower as a global model for sustainable buildings, Gilbert added.
