Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla on Tuesday discussed in a meeting with Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al Khorayef ways of fostering bilateral cooperation in the mining sector.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum 2023 that kicked off here today under the theme of “Building upon 120 years of geological discoveries for a de-carbonised and sustainable future”.
Molla reviewed the reforms introduced to the Egyptian mining sector, saying the Petroleum Ministry is interested in achieving the highest added value of mineral raw materials.
The petroleum minister lauded solid ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in different fields and strong bonds between the two countries’ political leadership, noting the mining sector provides an opportunity for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
On his part, the Saudi minister said Egypt and Saudi Arabia have chances to enhance cooperation in the mining sector that has recently witnessed positive changes in the two countries.
Khorayef invited Molla to attend the Future Minerals Forum, to be held in Riyadh in January 2024.
The two ministers agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the coming period to foster joint cooperation in the mining sector.
