Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi and SAP’s regional president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Augusta Spinelli, have discussed ways to expand the company’s investments in Egypt, as well as increasing outsourcing operations.
Minister Hindi met Spinelli and an accompanying delegation to explore opportunities to boost SAP’s presence in Egypt, including expanding outsourcing activities and strengthening co-operation in cloud computing and digital capacity building, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
The meeting reviewed co-operation in cloud computing to enhance Egypt’s digital sovereignty over data and applications hosted on SAP’s cloud services, while expanding advanced artificial intelligence-powered features in the Egyptian market, the statement said.
The two sides also discussed enhancing digital skills development through specialised training programmes aimed at equipping young people with advanced technological skills aligned with SAP solutions, improving their readiness for the global labour market. The meeting also covered the possibility of conducting a comprehensive study on labour market requirements in technology fields related to SAP solutions.
Hindi said the ministry is committed to strengthening the competitiveness of Egypt’s ICT sector regionally and globally and creating a business-friendly environment that enables international companies to expand operations and increase digital service exports.
He added that the ministry is keen to build partnerships with global firms to expand training programmes and develop highly specialised digital talent, supporting Egypt’s position as a global hub for outsourcing and cross-border IT services.
Spinelli said SAP values its long-term partnership with Egypt’s communications ministry and is committed to supporting digital skills development and strengthening the local technology ecosystem, noting that Egypt is a promising market and that the company aims to create sustainable opportunities that support economic growth.
The meeting was attended by officials from Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the Information Technology Institute, and senior representatives from the communications ministry and SAP, the statement added.
