Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, has emphasized that industrial and technological cooperation is the primary driver for building sustainable economic partnerships between Russia and Islamic nations.
Speaking at the plenary session of the “Russia-Islamic World: Kazan 2026” forum in Tatarstan, Hashem noted that Egyptian-Russian relations have reached an advanced strategic partnership, directly supported by Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Vladimir Putin.
Minister Hashem said bilateral co-operation now extends beyond traditional trade to encompass industry, energy, technology, food security, and supply chains.
He highlighted Egypt’s efforts to establish itself as a regional industrial and logistics hub linking Africa, the Arab world, Europe, and Asia—leveraging its strategic location, modern infrastructure, and specialized economic zones like the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
Hashem specifically underscored the strategic importance of the Russian Industrial Zone in Ain Sokhna, calling it one of the most significant joint projects between the two nations, and affirmed Egypt’s readiness to accelerate its implementation.
Furthermore, he pointed to promising opportunities for collaboration with Tatarstan in engineering, petrochemicals, industrial equipment, energy, technology, and technical training.
