Egypt marked the first day of Eid al-Adha on Friday with joyful celebrations across the country, as citizens gathered in public spaces, prayer grounds, and recreational areas to observe one of Islam’s most sacred holidays. To ensure safety and order during the festivities, the government implemented a nationwide security plan led by the Ministry of Interior.
The comprehensive plan includes the deployment of police forces to key areas that typically attract large crowds during the holiday, such as public parks, shopping centers, and entertainment venues. A visible police presence was established from the early morning hours, with officers stationed across major streets, squares, and transportation hubs to manage traffic, maintain order, and respond swiftly to any incidents.
Enhanced patrols by the Water Police along the Nile and riverboats aim to enforce safety protocols and prevent overcrowding. The Tourism Police have also increased their presence at archaeological and historic sites, ensuring both crowd control and emergency preparedness.
In anticipation of increased travel during the holiday, the Transportation Police raised their alert level at metro stations, train terminals, and bus stops to monitor operations and ensure passenger safety.
On the economic front, the Supply Police launched nationwide inspections to prevent price manipulation and ensure the availability of essential goods amid rising demand. These efforts are supported by the ongoing “We Are All One” initiative, a joint effort between the Ministry of Interior and retail partners to provide discounted food and household items through outlets in all governorates.
The security plan also includes the deployment of rapid-response units, mobile patrols, and reinforced checkpoints in high-traffic zones. Female police officers have been assigned to busy areas to support women and children, while traffic police monitor highways and major roads to assist travelers and prevent congestion.
Senior security officials are overseeing the implementation of these measures through on-site inspections, emphasizing a proactive, community-focused approach to public safety. Officers have been instructed to remain vigilant and engage with the public respectfully, highlighting the Interior Ministry’s commitment to a secure and peaceful Eid celebration.
With all divisions operating at full capacity, the Ministry aims to ensure a safe, smooth, and joyous holiday experience for Egyptians across the country.
