Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Rady, said on Friday that the Egyptian Embassy in Rome has successfully restored several Pharaonic artefacts dating back to the Old Kingdom.

The move came within the framework of the state’s strategy to restore its smuggled historical, archaeological, and artistic heritage from abroad, particularly artefacts belonging to various eras of ancient Egyptian civilisation.
Ambassador Rady has stated that the Egyptian Embassy in Rome attaches paramount importance to this important issue, praising the fruitful co-operation by the Italian side in this regard, within the context of the distinguished relations between the two countries.

He noted that numerous artefacts have been successfully repatriated over the past two years through close bilateral collaboration.
The ambassador also expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to EgyptAir and its regional office in Italy for their full cooperation in transporting the recovered pieces from Rome to Cairo.
