The Foreign Ministry Friday rejected a statement by a number of countries criticising the condition of human rights in Egypt.
The statement, which was addressed to the United Nations Human Rights Council, contained nothing more than allegations concerning human rights in Egypt, the Foreign Ministry said, adding that the statement is based on inaccurate information.
The ministry condemned the authors of the statement for not having requested credible and authentic information on human rights in Egypt.
The Foreign Ministry called on other countries to cease making politically-motivated accusations based on falsehoods.
Such statements overlook Egypt’s efforts to protect human rights in the political, economic and social fields, the ministry said.
“They also overlook the achievements of recent years,” the Foreign Ministry added.
The Egyptian delegation to the Human Rights Council is expected to deliver a statement soon highlighting human rights violations in making the original statement against Egypt.
