President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has affirmed Egypt’s keenness to continue strengthening fraternal relations with Iraq and advancing bilateral co-operation across various fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests and aspirations of both peoples.
He also highlighted the importance of ongoing preparations for the next session of the Egypt–Iraq Joint Higher Committee as a key framework for deepening co-operation.
President Sisi held a telephone conversation on Sunday with Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, said Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy.
He added that President Sisi extended his congratulations to the Iraqi prime minister on assuming his new post, wishing Iraq continued security, stability, and prosperity under the leadership of the new government.
For his part, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi expressed his appreciation for the president’s congratulations, reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to further developing relations with Egypt, particularly in the fields of trade and investment, as well as enhancing political coordination on issues of mutual regional and international interest.
The call also reviewed regional developments, during which President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for Iraq’s security and stability, stressing the importance of shielding Iraq from regional conflicts that could undermine its stability.
Both sides further discussed efforts to uphold and protect the sovereignty of Arab states in light of current regional challenges, underscoring the need to safeguard the security, stability, and resources of Arab peoples, the spokesman concluded.
