CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said the Egyptian State has regained its cultural leadership since President Abdel Fattah El Sisi took office eight years ago; as the State has been able to restore its role in the cultural and artistic fields after years of decline in the aftermath of 2011 incidents.

In an interview with MENA, Abdel Dayem said Egypt’s cultural and artistic life and leadership gradually returned to their previous state after President Sisi came to power in 2014.

In this regard, she said international festivals started to come up again with a distinguished participation of Arab and foreign guests.

The minister also pointed out to Egypt’s participation in international book fairs at the Arab and foreign levels.

Egypt has been chosen as a guest of honor at several international occasions, she noted.

Meanwhile, the minister emphasized the importance attached by the political leadership to the African continent in all fields, which she said has resulted in the signing of several agreements and cultural cooperation protocols with most African states.

She added that over the past few years Egypt has renewed many protocols of cultural cooperation with countries across the world.
