Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, emphasised on Tuesday Egypt’s ongoing commitment to supporting Palestine by providing humanitarian aid and healthcare to those affected by the recent violence in Gaza.

The minister’s remarks were made during a meeting with Pope Francis at the International Summit on Children’s Rights at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican City.

Abdel Ghaffar shared details of Egypt’s efforts to provide aid to Palestine and Sudan, highlighting the medical services provided to both countries, including the treatment of children, cancer care, and mandatory vaccinations.

He also highlighted Egypt’s psychological support given to victims of the Gaza conflict.

For his part, Pope Francispraised Egypt’s role in addressing the Palestinian crisis, voicing his desire to stay informed about the situation in Gaza.

Addressing Gaza’s humanitarian needs

Meanwhile, Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsi, discussed via a video conference with Minister of Social Development and Minister of State for Palestinian Relief Affairs, Samah Hamad, ongoing coordination to address Gaza’s humanitarian needs amid the Strip’s worsening conditions.

Morsi reassured the Palestinian official about the condition of children receiving treatment in Egyptian hospitals, citing several children who have undergone heart surgeries.

Minister Hamad voiced gratitude to Egypt, its government, and the Egyptian Red Crescent for their continuous support over the past 16 months.
