Amid the critical and pivotal developments unfolding in the Middle East, Egypt reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to return to their homeland, exercise self-determination, and establish an independent, sovereign state.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry Monday, Egypt emphasises that the only viable path to addressing the escalating threats to regional and international peace and security, stemming from the Israeli occupation and the recent aggression against Gaza, lies in the adoption of a comprehensive, just approach by the international community.

This approach, the statement also said, must uphold the rights of all peoples in the region without discrimination, particularly the Palestinian people, who continue to endure profound injustices, including the denial of their fundamental right to live in peace on their own land.

In this respect, Egypt calls upon the international community, including regional and global organisations, to adopt a clear political vision aimed at resolving the Palestinian issue. This vision must be rooted in the urgent need to end the historical injustices inflicted upon the Palestinian people and to restore their inalienable and legitimate rights.

In this context, Egypt firmly rejects any violations of these rights, including the right to self-determination, the right to remain on their land, the right to independence, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees displaced from their homeland.

Egypt’s position aligns with international human values and is grounded in the principles of international law, international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Furthermore, Egypt stresses that disregarding international legitimacy in addressing the region’s crises risks undermining the foundations of peace that have been carefully built and safeguarded through decades of effort and sacrifice.

Egypt remains committed to working with all regional and international partners to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the Middle East, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law, the statement concluded.
