Ambassador Ehab Fahmy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs, held a meeting on Wednesday with Arab ambassadors accredited to Cairo, during which he reviewed the latest developments unfolding across the region.
The meeting focused on Egypt’s intensive diplomatic efforts at various levels to de-escalate tensions and promote regional calm.
Fahmy highlighted recent communications and visits conducted by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to several Arab countries, aimed at reaffirming Egypt’s full solidarity with Arab states and condemning Iranian attacks targeting Gulf countries and Jordan.
He also outlined the continuous and round-the-clock diplomatic efforts led by Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati in coordination with regional and international partners to contain the current escalation and prevent further deterioration.
Fahmy stressed that the national security of Arab states is an integral part of Egypt’s own national security. He further cautioned against allowing the ongoing conflict to overshadow other urgent regional priorities, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, calling for sustained focus on advancing all provisions of the second phase of US President Trump’s plan.
He also reasserted Egypt’s full solidarity with Lebanon, stressing the need to halt Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and to ensure the full and non-selective implementation of all provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
During the meeting, which included an extended discussion on regional developments, Fahmy underlined that the current critical situation requires intensified coordination and stronger Arab unity. He called for enhanced collective Arab action mechanisms to address shared challenges and safeguard regional stability.
