Egypt is fully ready to meet the health sector requirements in Lebanon, Minister of Health and Population Dr Hala Zayed said.
During her meeting on Wednesday with Lebanese Ambassador in Cairo Ali Al-Halabi, Zayed affirmed Egypt’s kennness to provide coronavirus vaccine doses to the Lebanese people after Egypt achieves self-sufficiency in this regard, a statement by the Health Ministry read.
This comes in line with the increase of Egypt’s local production of the vaccine doses and with the aim of supporting the Lebanese people in facing the coronavirus pandemic, Zayed explained.
The meeting addressed the role played by an Egyptian medical team and experts who travelled to Lebanon to provide support to the injured Lebanese people in the Akkar explosion that took place in mid-August, killing dozens.
An Egyptian medical team in the plastic and burn surgeries were sent to Lebanon immediately after the incident, the statement read.
Also, a shipment of the required medicine and supplies were sent to Lebanon as per the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the statement added.
Halabi, during the meeting, thanked the Egyptian political leadership and Health Ministry for the quick response regarding the Akkar explosion.
He affirmed that this humanitarian solidarity helped boost the morale of the medical team and patients in Lebanon.
The Lebanese ambassador also hailed Egypt’s significant role in supporting the Lebanese people since the Beirut blast last year.
