The seventh session of the Egypt–Qatar joint high committee convened on Thursday in Alamein, co‑chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al‑Thani. The meeting was attended by several ministers and senior officials from both sides.
Minister Abdel-Aati welcomed the Qatari delegation, praising the strong momentum in bilateral relations and stressing the importance of translating political goodwill into practical steps. He highlighted an 80% rise in trade between both countries in 2025, major investment projects such as “Alam El‑Roum” development project in Marsa Matrouh, and the launch of a sustainable aviation fuel project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
The Egyptian side emphasised the importance of expanding co-operation in energy, investment, and consular affairs.
He reiterated Egypt’s firm stance on Palestinian rights, rejecting any attempt to displace the Palestinian people and reaffirming support for a two‑state solution. Minister Abdel-Aati also underscored Egypt’s support for Qatar’s security and regional stability, calling for de‑escalation and safe navigation in international waters.
For his part, Sheikh Mohamed praised the growing partnership with Egypt, noting Qatar’s commitment to building on the current momentum to strengthen economic and investment ties.
Sectoral discussions included health co-operation, with agreements on establishing Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al‑Thani Hospital in Sohag, financial coordination, investment opportunities, and enhanced oversight collaboration between Egypt’s Central Auditing Organisation and Qatar’s Audit Bureau.
The session concluded with the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding, including cooperation between the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and the Qatar Fund for Development, a grant agreement for Sohag hospital, a customs co-operation accord, and MoU on audit and oversight collaboration.
This round of talks reinforced the shared commitment to deepening Egypt–Qatar relations and advancing joint projects across economic, social, and regional domains.
