Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati has underlined the importance of further strengthening economic, trade and investment co-operation with the United States.
He also commended the outcomes of the American Chamber of Commerce’s (AmCham) business outreach mission and its role in enhancing engagement between the business communities of both countries.
Abdel-Aati statements came as he received AmCham Chairman of the Board of Directors Omar Mohanna and former Chairman and current Board Member Eng Tarek Tawfik on Wednesday, following the chamber delegation’s return from Washington, DC, where they took part in the chamber’s regular business outreach mission.
During the meeting, the minister reaffirmed that the longstanding economic partnership between Egypt and the United States represents a cornerstone of bilateral strategic relations, stressing the importance of building on existing cooperation in trade, investment and economic development.
He also referred to the Egyptian-American Economic Forum hosted in Cairo in May 2015, which brought together major American companies and contributed to strengthening co-operation between government and private sector stakeholders.
He also expressed his anticipation for the second edition of the forum to be held this year in order to further expand institutional partnerships and investment opportunities.
The minister further highlighted that the coming phase aims to deepen ties between Egyptian and American business communities across key sectors, including industry, logistics, energy, digital infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and healthcare systems, as well as tourism, with a view to increasing investment flows, boosting exports and creating new employment opportunities.
