Egyptian Planning Minister Hala el Saeed said that Egypt prioritizes handling the developmental gaps across different governorates to eradicate poverty, inequality and unemployment.
Egypt also focuses on improving the quality of life in the rural communities to achieve sustainable rural development within the framework of presidential initiative “Decent Life”.
This came during Saeed’s meeting with Founder and Executive Director of Coptic Orphans Foundation Nermien Riad to discuss ways of cooperation between the initiative and Coptic Orphans.
During the meeting, Saeed said the first stage of decent life initiative was launched in January in 2019 within the framework of the keenness of the state to resume investment efforts necessary for improving the quality of life of citizens.
The initiative targeted 375 villages and contributed to decreasing poverty rates in some villages by 11%, she said.
The initiative succeeded in decreasing poverty rates and providing services in the villages covered by the initiative, she added.
She added that the second stage of the initiative targets 4,584, inhabited by 50 million citizens, at the cost of EGP 700 billion.
The initiative is based on developing infrastructure in the countryside, securing decent homes, improving quality of human development and securing economic development by boosting small and medium-sized projects, Saeed said.
Meanwhile, Riad asserted the keenness of the foundation to help Egyptian families live better life and enjoy more health and prosperity.
