Egypt’s Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the health sector’s investment plan for the 2026/2027 fiscal year.
Abdel Ghaffar said the government places citizens’ health at the forefront of its priorities, describing it as a cornerstone for building a productive society.
He added that the new investment plan focuses on maximizing the efficient use of available resources and directing them toward priority projects that directly impact citizens’ lives.
The minister noted that the plan includes expanding training and capacity-building for medical staff to improve service quality and health indicators, particularly for vulnerable groups.
It also targets the development of healthcare infrastructure through new national projects, upgrading existing facilities, completing phases of the universal health insurance system (UHIS), and enhancing ambulance services to ensure faster emergency response.
Abdel Ghaffar also reviewed key achievements from the 2025/2026 plan, including the construction of new hospitals, the renovation of healthcare facilities, and the expansion of primary and specialized care services across governorates.
For his part, Minister Rostom reaffirmed that the health sector remains a top government priority, with increased allocations aimed at strengthening its capabilities.
He described health spending as a direct investment in human capital, noting its role in boosting productivity and enhancing economic competitiveness.
He added that the upcoming plan emphasizes directing public investments toward high-impact projects, while adhering to efficiency and governance standards to achieve broader economic and social development goals.
