Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty underscored the government’s strong commitment to supporting citizens living abroad, highlighting efforts to enhance consular services and maintain close ties with the diaspora.

In a virtual meeting with members of the Egyptian community in the United Kingdom, he emphasized the foreign ministry’s recent progress in digitizing consular services and launching new initiatives in coordination with relevant state bodies to better serve Egyptians overseas.

Taking part in the meeting were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Nabil Habashi, Egypt’s Ambassador to the UK Sherif Kamel, Consul General in London Mohamed Abul-Khair, and officials from the ministry’s consular affairs department.

Abdelatty praised the Egyptian expat community in the UK for its active role in strengthening bilateral ties, reaffirming the state’s commitment to engaging with Egyptians of all generations abroad. He also noted ongoing preparations for the sixth edition of the “Egyptians Abroad” conference, scheduled for August 2025, which aims to foster direct dialogue between the government and expatriates.

The minister stressed the importance of participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections and highlighted ongoing preparations to facilitate voting for Egyptians living overseas. “Exercising constitutional rights is a cornerstone of political participation,” he said.

Deputy Minister Habashi shed light on a range of initiatives aimed at improving services for Egyptians abroad and discussed logistical details for the upcoming August conference. He highlighted planned cultural and civic activities for younger generations of the diaspora and encouraged strong participation in future electoral processes.

Abdelatty also heard from the ambassador and the consul general regarding recent developments in upgrading consular services for Egyptians in the UK. He emphasized the importance of maintaining active engagement with the expatriate community there.
