Egypt Post has issued a new stamp and souvenir card marking the 90th anniversary of establishing the national flag carrier EgyptAir.
In a press release on Saturday, Board Chairman of Egypt Post Sherif Farouk said that the company is a success story in the nation’s history, showing the great efforts made by some people who worked hard for their nation’s preeminence.
Therefore, Egypt Post, the government agency responsible for postal service, has issued the 10-pound stamp and souvenir card to document such a landmark event.
The multi-colored stamp is five cm long and three cm wide, while the card is eight cm long and six cm wide. Each of them is protected against forgery and supported with QR technology.
In May 7, 1932, King Fuad I, King of Egypt, issued a royal decree to establish a joint-stock Egyptian company named “EgyptAir,” which became the 7th airline in the world.
In 1933, EgyptAir’s first flight departed from Cairo’s Almaza Airport to Alexandria. The Egyptian government took over the company during the Second World War and changed its name to MisrAirlines, however, it was soon returned to its status as an independent company.
