Minister inspects key aviation centers

Amid rapid developments and heightened tensions in the region, Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has intensified its efforts to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of the country’s airspace and airports. Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, led an extensive inspection tour of key operational hubs to assess preparedness and monitor evolving circumstances.
Dr. El-Hefny’s tour included visits to the Cairo International Airport Operations Center, the Egyptian Airports Company Operations Center, the Air Navigation Operations Center, and the Ministry’s own Operations Center. The purpose of the field tour was to ensure the full readiness of these facilities to manage any emergency or unexpected developments as the regional situation unfolds.

Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport became a key destination for diverted flights as five Jordanian airlines rerouted to the airport following the temporary closure of certain regional airspace. The airport administration, working closely with operating airlines and service providers, ensured that all passengers received care and assistance in line with international standards, pending the stabilization of the situation and the resumption of their journeys.
In response to the regional disruptions, Air Cairo announced the postponement of its flights from Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Borg El Arab, and Assiut airports to Amman until the reopening of Jordanian airspace and the restoration of normal flight operations. Similarly, as a precautionary measure, several flights bound for Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon have been temporarily suspended until airspace conditions in those countries allow for safe operations.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation reaffirmed that Egyptian airspace and airport operations continue to function normally and safely, in full compliance with international aviation standards. The ministry also stressed that it is maintaining round-the-clock coordination with local and international authorities through its central operations rooms to monitor developments and respond swiftly to any emerging scenarios.
