Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Karam Gabr discussed with Omani Information Minister Abdullah bin Nasser al Harassi means to promote bilateral media ties in the coming period.
This came on Tuesday during a meeting between Gabr and Harassi on the sidelines of the meetings of the Council of the Arab Information Ministers, according to a statement of the SCMR.
Gabr asserted the depth of Egyptian-Omani relations, adding Egypt is keen on enhancing its ties with Oman at the different level.
Gabr stressed the necessity of consolidating co-operation between the Arab countries in the media field to face the joint challenges.
He also stressed the importance of promoting a joint Arab action to face social media and electronic platforms, which broadcast false news and strange ideas about customs and traditions.
For his part, Harassi said his country is looking forward to boosting media co-operation with Egypt, lauding the Egyptian-Omani ties as distinguished in the various domains.
He also stressed the pivotal role played by Egypt and Oman in dealing with regional issues in support of international peace and security.
